Healthy Options for Igloolik
The M&R Store is a special spot in the small community of Igloolik, Nunavut. Created by Merlyn and Rhoda (M&R), this innovative gathering place includes healthy take-out options, a coffee shop, a convenience store, a well-equipped meeting room, and several office rentals.
It provides a space for Inuit youth who are eager to learn and grow to gain skills and experience in the workforce and is an excellent example of the positive impact young people can have on their communities.

Healthy Options for Take Out
The success of M&R is driven by the unique energy and atmosphere created by the dedicated youth who operate it. As soon as you step inside, you feel the sense of community and belonging that the space creates. From the variety of music playing to the friendly staff waiting to welcome you.
The Take-Out counter serves tasty sub sandwiches with lots of fresh veggies, amazing pizza plus delicious daily specials. It’s a great opportunity for people to supplement their diet with convenient food made with healthy vegetables and leafy greens.
Delicious Treats at the Coffee Shop
Across the hall, you can hear a different selection of music but the staff is just as welcoming and committed to creating a sense of community. From early morning coffee to an afternoon pick-me-up, the M&R Cafe brings people together.
For a refreshing taste of caffeine… try our regular lattes, brewed coffees or perhaps one of our custom sweet latte options.
Convenience Store With Reasonable Prices
The cost of living can be incredibly high due to transportation and limited supply chains. But by listening to our customer’s needs, the M&R store made a conscious decision to price items as affordably as possible.
We consistently stock our shelves with meats, produce, snacks, and other essential items that our community wants while keeping prices low contributing to a more equitable and healthy community for all.
Well Equipped Board Room to Meet
Looking for a space to run your meetings, host conference calls, and connect with other communities or government departments? Look no further as this board room will comfortably accommodate eight people with Internet and video capabilities.
We know the importance of having a space in our community where people can come together and work on important initiatives, discuss important projects and virtually connect globally with partners and industry experts.
