This year for Nunavut Day we sent food to ten communities to support their community BBQ celebrations.
To support the success of Igloolik’s new Food Bank we have committed to making monthly a donation.
With support from partners like Canadian North, we send food hampers to all Qikiqtani comminities.
In addition to supporting our Inuit staff in having time on the land year-round, we hold an Annual IQ day for all staff.
We consistently give back to our community by supporting local events and donating to our school’s pizza program.
Rhoda Recinos (CEO) experienced food insecurity as a child. She later went on to be a teacher and once again was seeing many kids hungry in school. Some of the children were not always able to have breakfast and often showed up without their lunch.
Rhoda enjoyed being a teacher but felt deep down she was meant to make an impact in other ways. These personal experiences watered the seeds that would be born into Arctic Fresh.
We see a Canada without hunger and believe everyone should have access to affordable healthy food.

Increasing the supply of affordable housing by purchasing and renovating abandoned homes.
We are consistently working since 2016 to make healthy food more accessible and affordable for Nunavut.
Hiring local Inuit creates a pool of certified Inuit trades workers, cuts costs, and builds capacity.
Improving our supply chain to better serve our communities while reducing the time goods are in transit.
Involving local Inuit in infrastructure projects ensures we value traditional knowledge and support the culture.
By working with the people and communities,
together we can overcome any obstacle.
Over the last few years, Arctic Fresh has developed, consistently grown, and become more established. We are proud to say we hit many targets to improve food security, provide healthy affordable foods, and hire mostly Inuit to work in our business. These milestones and foundation allowed us to develop other areas like training and mentoring to build capacity. This capacity development led to us launching a construction division and an aviation division. We always seek to collaborate while innovating to create opportunities that foster positive sustainable change.
We are an Inuit owned social enterprise with more than 90% Inuit staff. Through our many projects, we empower the communities we engage with in Nunavut adding value specifically in terms of food, aviation, and construction needs. Food security is at the “macro,” of all we do. We focus on affordable housing, supply chain, capacity building, traditional knowledge, innovation, and clean energy to support this work.
Our original initiative was created to make healthy food more affordable and accessible to Nunavut communities and we continue to expand
