Iqaluit is the capital of Nunavut and offers an opportunity to get a sense of the nuances and working dynamics in the territory. Many small businesses, Inuit organizations, Nunavut government departments, and federal organizations are based in Iqaluit.
Many annual events are held in Iqaluit and accommodations are limited during these events. This unfortunately limits the number of people from smaller communities and outside the territory from attending. Events like the annual Nunavut Trade Show are instrumental in building relationships and creating new partnerships, to foster sustainable economic growth.

Igloolik had limited accommodations available for tourism and work travel, so we renovated a previous staff house into a three-bedroom Bed & Breakfast. The B&B improves the capacity to hold events, engage with potential stakeholders, and create meaningful partnerships. This is a core function required to build new relationships and develop local infrastructure.
Igloolik previously had two hotels and a seven-bedroom bed and breakfast facility. Now, there is only one hotel, and it is often at capacity. Even people travelling from outside of Igloolik to work on local construction projects quickly limit the rooms available.
We are happy to say that our B&B is increasing the number of people able to visit Igloolik to explore, work or take part in local projects. Creating economic growth, local jobs, and ensuring projects can be carried out that benefit our community are important to us.
Our original initiative was created to make healthy food more affordable and accessible to Nunavut communities and we continue to expand
The M&R store provides Igloolik with healthy takeout options with vegetables to Igloolik and an opportunity for its youth to learn and grow their skills.
The renovated staff house offers a 3-bedroom bed & breakfast to increase options for tourists and travellers working and staying in Igloolik.
The aviation division is committed to improving travel with convenient routes and affordable charter options to improve the supply chain.
The construction division is developing a pool of skilled Inuit trades workers to reduce costs while building more capacity locally.
