Helping Smaller Nunavut Communities
become more Self Sufficient.
We are an Inuit owned social enterprise dedicated to improving food security while helping to empower Nunavummiut. We are doing some very cool projects that support the communities we engage with, while consistently maintaining over 90% Inuit staff.

Our Annual Christmas Hampers
With support from partners like Canadian North, we sent a total of 3000 food hampers to all Qikiqtaaluk communities last year.
These annual food hampers would not be possible with out our dedicated partners. We are grateful for funders like the Qikiqtani Inuit Association.

Supporting Our Rich Culture With Time on the Land
Our Annual IQ Day
In addition to supporting our Inuit staff in having time on the land year-round, we hold an Annual IQ day for all our amazing staff.

Supporting Community Initiatives
We have supported the Igloolik Soccer teams on their journeys to Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit. Investing in our youth is not just about today — it’s about building a brighter future.
We love to support community initiatives. We were happy to support Nunavut Quest and the Igloolik Fishing Derby. Here is Rhoda Recinos presenting a cheque to the committee.
Charitable Donations
We are very passionate about meeting our Social Mandates
Nunavut Day Barbeque
Arctic Fresh Group of Companies, in collaboration with other corporate partners, sponsored community BBQ’s for Nunavut Day in the Qikiqtani communities and Coral Harbour.
We sent Burgers, Hot dogs and Juices to each hamlet to host them. We also purchased and sent barbecue’s to any communities that didn’t have one.

Building Capacity
How We Build Local Capacity
Building capacity remains a core mandate for both Arctic Fresh and Arctic Fresh Projects. This year has been very successful having reached and maintained 92% Inuit staff in all areas, from senior management to local labor. All our operations in Igloolik, that is, senior management, store, local construction etc. is all Inuit, except for Merlyn who helps support and oversee the operations.
We train and develop all our employees and continue to empower them. We train them to develop their future not ours. I always tell our staff train, learn and once you feel comfortable if you want to start a small business, we will help you. I believe we need to create an economy in our communities in Nunavut, and the only way to do it is by creating microbusiness in our communities instead of monopolies.
Below are pictures of our staff in just some of our training initiatives.

More about the types of training we are supporting
We continue to hire, support, and develop a pool of skilled Inuit trades workers to empower Inuit and create more jobs locally. We are beyond excited to soon have the first Inuit Super-Intendent on one of our Construction Sites.
We are committed to improving capital infrastructure in Nunavut reducing construction costs, while continuing to hire, train, and develop local Inuit. Southern companies are only required to have 20% Inuit participation in local construction. More than this it only relates to laborers and not skilled trades.
In addition to our construction divisions training efforts, we also recently sent six of our Inuit M&R staff from Igloolik to Ottawa for training. Thanks to support from Kakivak Association they got to spend a week learning about food safety, meal prepping, pizza making, creating menus, and more…
